Deleted Scenes

Doing the 30 Day Photo Challenge was much easier and much harder than I thought.  Posting a picture a day wasn't a big deal, but finding a picture that actually fit into one of my prompts wasn't always easy.  There were a lot of moments that I really liked that never made it onto the blog because they either didn't fit into any of my promps or they only fit into something I had already posted.  I wanted to share just a few of them.

I had a couple of other shots that were more Marilyn Monroe, but I liked this one the best.

I realized half-way through the month that I hadn't posted any pictures of Harrison.  Mostly because he's always moving and it's hard to capture him in focus.  Also, I really hated his long hair.

My baby is constantly pulling faces.  I have about 20 pictures of him in the tub and every one of them is a framer.  He's a shoe-in for America's Next Top Toddler Model.

She took some time during our Super Bowl party to dress up like a princess and raid the vegetable tray.

I couldn't decide which flower picture to post.  I went with the amaryllis, but I really liked this one, too.

He started doing this with his blanket every morning at breakfast. 

I took about 100 pictures of Chloe's dance class and I love all of them.  They are currently learning a dance to "I Whip My Hair" and it's my new favorite thing.

See how they love each other?  We spent a lot of time in the car together this past month.  Jeff and Harrison both had basketball games once a week and it was fun to be together and support them.

This was my other choice for a landscape picture.  I think it illustrates just how gray and bare it is here in the winter.  I went with the other one because all pictures are better with my kids in them.

I have a lot of pictures of him on this day that I really love, too.  Maybe I'll just wallpaper his room with them.

Here are all of the pinewood derby cars that competed in our troop this year.  The red one without any stickers was the fastest car.  Unfortunately, it belonged to a five year old girl who was competing in the siblings race, so she wasn't allowed to take home the grand prize.  (I think the grand prize was a pencil.)  The crazy car in the bottom left-hand corner won first place.

Day 30: Faceless self-portrait

I'm guessing whoever came up with this prompt was hoping for something deep and artistic.  I don't do deep and artistic.

Hey, I did it!  30 Days of photos!  February just flew right by, didn't it? 

Day 29: Landscape

This was definitely the hardest prompt for me.  Getting a good landscape picture in St. Louis any other time of year is hard enough (because of all the trees), but finding a pretty landscape spot in the winter is nearly impossible.  It's just really dreary and gray outside.  I pulled up Google Maps to see if there was a lake nearby and drove toward water hoping I might be able to take a good picture.  This lake has a great park, dock, and picnic tables nearby.  I didn't even know it exhisted before today.  We'll definitely have to come back when it's warm and pretty.

Day 28: Technology

It's kind of scary how good these little boys are at Wii games.  Mother of the Year, that's me.

Day 27: Animal

This is my neighbor's dog, McGee.  She's the only dog my kids will actually pet.  All of our neighbors have dogs and every once in a while they all come out to play at the same time. 

This is Sophie and Patch.  They are crazy fast and that really freaks out my kids.  Miles went full-on Gran Torino on them this afternoon.

McGee's one of those dogs that wears sweaters in the winter and has a special Cardinals collar for game days.  She has a nice life.

Day 26: High Angle

I know this isn't a great example of a high angle picture or even a good picture at all, but give me a break.  As we come to the end of the month, I have fewer options for photo prompts.  I was standing in the bleachers, so this is technically a high angle.  It's also a moment I wanted to capture.  If you find Harrison in this huddle, you win!

Harrison had his last basketball game this morning.  It's been really fun watching him learn how to play the game and grow as an athlete.  He's so much better than when he started.  A couple of weeks ago he said, "I figured out the secret to defense.  Violence!"  He was a completely different player after that.  Don't worry.  No one was seriously hurt.  He's just a little guy.

I don't know what his coach was telling him here.  Probably something like "Sweep the leg."  or "We're gonna run the picket fence."  or "Getcha, getcha, getcha, getcha head in the game."

His team came from way behind and won the game in the last minute.  It was, by far, the most exciting basketball game I've ever seen played by 3rd grade Catholics.

Tonight Harrison participated in his first Pinewood Derby.  It was fun for the whole family and no one cried.  (Except Miles, but that wasn't related to the race.)  Harrison and Jeff had a lot of fun making this car and it did really well.  He placed first among the Wolf pack and second overall.  High-five!

Day 17: Lunch

Jeff and I celebrated our anniversary today by going out to lunch at Cyrano's.  I could eat this bread pudding every day for the rest of my life.

Day 16: Something blue

Wow!  That commercial was right.  Raiding the fridge has never been so comfortable!

Day 15: Someone you love

Just to be clear: I love Jeff, Harrison, and Chloe, too.  A lot.  But this little guy won my heart all over again last week when he figured out potty training after three days.  So much love.
