The main purpose of our trip back East for Fall Break was to celebrate Jeff's dad's 60th birthday. We were so excited when we looked at the calendar last year and realized we would have that time off.
We celebrated Pop's birthday with cake, ice cream, and Mad Libs.
Miles, Nathan, and Justin were happy to be reunited and to watch Grandpa open presents.
Here's Patti filling in the Mad Libs for Pop's special birthday card.
Things got funny. (And a little dirty.) Amy's family and Scott's family were on Skype when we told Pops we had all pitched in to get him a tree. Amy and her husband, Jeff, wrote a card about how we're his saplings, but we'll never cut him down . . . or something.
He seemed pleased. Then we partied all night.
The next day we went to church in our hometown, which was really sweet. Then Grandma played games with the kids while they made dumb videos on her camera.
We also got to spend lots of time with Great-grandmother Carol now that she lives in Cary, too.
We're so grateful we could come home, even for a short while. I took a picture of each of the kids with Pops and Patti. This is the only one that didn't turn out weird. We'll have to try to take some Death Photos another day, Patti. :)
