Foxy

On Saturday we finished Fantastic Mr. Fox by Roald Dahl.  It rained all day, which made it the perfect time to snuggle up on the couch.  I made the kids roast chicken, doughnuts (not liver-filled), and cider and we watched the movie together.  The movie is truly fantastic!  I've never seen anything like it.  I loved everything about it.  It remained true to the book while adding a delightful subplot and a moral to the story.  (The book is quite short and there's not much to it.)  Near the end of the movie, sirens started going off outside.  It turns out, that's what happens when a tornado is blasting through town.  Once again, the basement flooded.  It was all very exciting.

In conclusion, if you haven't seen the movie Fantastic Mr. Fox (starring the foxy George Clooney and Meryl Streep), you should.  These things are fun and fun is good.

We got it at redbox on Saturday to watch and the dumb thing wouldn't play on our DVD player! I will try again!

Yay! I'm so excited to have a good review of this. You have to admit it looks a little weird from the pictures.

Did I tell you I tried Little House on the Prairie with Bridget? I didn't think she was paying attention (lots of fidgeting), then she repeated everything to Daddy at dinner that night. You are the wind beneath my wings, dude.

We do movie night with the kids every Friday night. I was wondering to show this one or not, I hadn't heard anything about it.
Now I'll show it for sure! Thanks!

I've never read the book, but the movie "Summer of the Monkeys" is sweet (and the monkeys antics can get the kids rolling in laughter). So, maybe you can read the book with your kids and then tell me if it is worth reading. :) I have no idea how closely the movie follows the book.

Awesome!! I actually saw this book today and wondered if it was any good. I am starting your book club with my kids, but we are starting with James and the giant peach. I will have to do Fantastic Mr. Fox next.
Thanks!

P.S. Sorry about your basement. :(

I loved this movie, too. I love the cousin (can't remember his name). Last Thanksgiving we were all at home, driving each other crazy and so we took everyone to see this movie--not knowing anything about it (during the movie I whispered to Scott--hey--that kind of sounds like George Clooney! George who? Scott said)

We'll have to watch it again.
