Orchid Show

Yesterday I planned on doing all sorts of cleaning and running of errands and making of important phone calls.  Then someone reminded me that the annual Orchid Show was going on at the Missouri Botanical Gardens.  A morning spent walking around a garden taking pictures of beautiful flowers was just what I needed.  Change approved!  I had fun editing them and found that orchids look amazing in color or black and white (Just like Cary Grant.), so I tried a few of both.

Cute Kids in Sweaters

Since the day Santa brought me my portrait lens I have been aching to dress my kids up and take a million pictures of them.  Snow kind of ruined that for me for a few weeks.  The kids are actually out of school again today with a snow day, but that's okay.  Yesterday it finally warmed up enough for me to bribe them with Yogurtland and take their pictures.  Huzzah!

I took the kids to Laumeier Sculpture Park in Sunset Hills.  I don't really "get" sculptures, but there are a lot of nice spots for photographs there, even in the dead of winter.  

Harrison has been really delightful, lately.  He jokes around with us a lot, but has also become very responsible.  I just want to pinch his cheeks!

Chloe recently got a new haircut.  I think it suits her well.  She's always so cooperative when I want to take pictures of her.  Teacher's pet!

Oh, Miles.  I always count myself lucky if I can get a not-crazy picture of this kid.  These poses are all his own.

Sometimes I'm a little too good at getting them to smile.  Why must I be so hilarious?!

These kids will do anything for frozen yogurt.

Clydesdales

I decided to use a few moments of my new found "me time" this morning to take a look at the clydesdales at Grant's Farm.  These horses are owned by Anheiser-Busch and Grant's Farm is like a "prep school" for them to become Budweiser Clydesdales (a.k.a. Every horse's dream.).  The stables are on the way to Miles' preschool, so I pulled over to the side of the road and got out to take some pictures.  At first I kept wishing they were just a little bit closer.  Then they spotted me and came over to where I was.  I nearly wet myself.  They're so huge and beautiful!  I was equal parts terrified and amazed.
