Sorry I've neglected my blog. I've neglected many other things too. Just ask my kids what they've eaten for dinner this past week. No, wait! Don't! Here's what we've been up to:
Twelve days out of December at least one of our kids has been sick. It's turned me into a bit of a loon.
I made eleven bags of this tasty Cinnamon Bun Popcorn to give away. I ate half of them myself. Don't judge me. It's super good. Plus, we're getting a rowing machine for Christmas and I want my "before" picture to be sufficiently grotesque.
We went to the St. Louis Science Center yesterday and Harrison declared it boring about ten times. Jeff, on the other hand, was like a kid in a candy store. Or like a nerdy kid in a science center.
I bought a small nativity and every time I pass it, someone has rearranged the figures. Here are nine different ways I've found it.
It snowed for the first time this winter. Harrison went sledding down the hill in our backyard at least eight times before he realized it was lame.
(Chloe and Miles figured it out much sooner.)
We've found seven large packages left on our doorstep in the past couple of weeks. Thanks, Grandma's!
M.A.F.W. invited the kids over for a cookie decorating party. A total of six cookies were decorated, leaving Wendy . . . a few more to decorate on her own. Good times.
My friend Brenda took us to the Missouri Botannical Gardens for their annual Christmas train show. Five trains? Really, Botannical Gardens? You charge $9 for five trains? Good thing Brenda got us in free. She also led us to the "rain forest" where I found this cool plant:
All Harrison wants for Christmas is his four front teeth.
The note he's holding says, "Dear Tooth Fairy my tooth fell out and I can't find it. Leave money. Your friend Harrison."
Two of my children went to the mall and sat on Santa's lap. Chloe was feeling "just a little bit shy" that day.
Who can blame her, really? "Hey, kid, go sit on that strange old man's lap. P.S. He sees you when you're sleeping and he knows when you're awake."
Is it just me, or is this one adorable manger scene?
10 Wisecracks:
I love the storm trooper in the nativity. It goes along with Will Riker from Star Trek being part of my family's nativity. I hope you guys are healthy for Christmas!
Nothing says Christmas like re-arranged Nativities (although my many hours spent pouring over Hilight Magazine says 3 and 5 are the same). I love your Christmas fun times! If Pops wasn't still asleep I'd put on Christmas music and dance around the house. Maybe I'll just go read "The Grinch" quietly out loud to myself. FOUR MORE DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!! *hee hee*
So what gift did the storm trooper bring? I loved this post, I think I'll go read it again. Was this manger scene at a ward party or something or did you just put it together in your front room?
that was a delightful post!
So cute!
I like Harrison's note. That is hilarious!
Your P.S. Santa comment made me laugh. So funny!!
Patti, darn your finely honed Hilight skills. I only had eight, but the collage maker decided to use one picture twice. Good eye!
Ashley, I believe the storm trooper brought a message from the Dark Side. And, yes, we made that nativity scene in our living room.
Just kidding. They had a photo booth at the cresches and carols exhibit with costumes for all sizes. So fun!
I've read this like three times now and I laugh at something different (in addition to the first laughs) every time. Awesome. I love that kids like to rearrange nativity scenes (Bridget likes to do it at a store I go to way too much). That nativity pictures is THE BEST!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. oh man, you slay me. and you are a genius. this was quite clever.
Very cute. I don't know how you come up with these things.
Oh clever clever friend. Merry Christmas Maxwells!!
