"Lene"-ing One Way or Another

Yesterday I harrassed an old lady at church about a musical number I'm in charge of next week. Her name is Merlene and I was reminding her that we had a conversation about the music a month ago. She denied it. I kept insisting I had talked to her. She asked if I had talked to "Marlene." I hadn't. She asked if I meant "Mardene," but I so didn't. Nor did I mean her neighbor, Arlene. It turns out I had the wrong old lady and I had actually spoken to Sherleen. Shirleen directed me to Julene, who had some expertise with the violin. Julene said that if she couldn't do it, I should ask Darlene. (No, not that Darlene, the other one.)

And, congratulations to my friend Kristi who just had a baby girl named Kylene!

There's about fifteen reasons in this post alone to justify my never ever ever ever moving to UT. I'm proud of you........Once I found a website keeping track of all the crazy Utah names - now I'm going to have to go find it again...........

Are you for real??? No, really for real????
And yes, my sister totally wins the quirky trophy, for like, life. Me, on the other hand....Just Normal with a capital N.

Not sure you can blame weird old lady names on Utah, folks. In my last ward (in NC) we had a Kaitlyn, Kaylee, Kylee, Kately, and Kaylene.

And Uno, I'm totally serious.

I would also like to say that Utah does not have a corner on the weird name market. What about the names of cities, towns and streets in NC? Bahama is pronounced how? Then there's Oakley.
We loved living in Utah!

Ugh. That made my head spin. But I love the pic of the Quidditch Stadium. Seriously, how do you do something that cool, and where do you find the time?

excellent. that is quite hilarious. i like the ones that combine the mother and father's names. you could use something like meleffa for your next child.

Is that story for real, cause that's kinda crazy. Now I'm rethinking the whole "Kylene" thing. :)
