Last Saturday we took the kids to the North Carolina Museum of Natural Science to enjoy the dinosaur exhibit that's showing. On the way home we made a stop at Krispy Kreme. Harrison declared the outing "exciting, but not fun."

Potty Training Diary--Day 5, The End
HOORAY! She figured it out! It took five excruciatingly long days for her to do it, but Chloe can now tell me when she needs to go potty and then goes and does it. The morning started off great and I was thrilled at the prospect of not having to clean up a pee mess. Then my garbage disposal exploded all over my floor and it was, of course, filled with peas. Congratulations, Universe, you win.

Potty Training Diary--Day 4
Darkness, darkness everywhere. She had two accidents today and both were within a minute of sitting on the potty for ten minutes. Come on! I spent the day feeling tense as I nervously awaited the next accident. I started questioning my methods and her readiness and thought about ways I could change to suit her needs. As I was having this little conversation with myself, Chloe ran to the bathroom, sat on the potty, and did her business. And that's when I saw the light at the end of the tunnel.
Total carnage: 1 Succesful Trip to the Bathroom, 2 accidents, 2 towels, 2 dresses.
She's become bored with her selection of potty time books, so we've used our moments together to expand her singing repotoire. Enjoy!
BAH! For some reason this video appears in my preview window, but not when I publish it. Does anyone know how I can fix that?

Potty Training Diary--Day 3
Why isn't there a potty-training camp for kids? Somebody could make a bundle on it. I'm just sayin'. . .
Frustration has set in and I'm not sure I can make it through the end of the week with this. Chloe had two accidents today and no successes. We put her in pull-ups while she naps and during bedtime. (Just so she knows she doesn't wear diapers, anymore.) She woke up soaking wet. Those suckers may as well be thongs.
She had her last four accidents in the same spot in her bedroom. Very weird. Maybe the chi flows better in there than in the bathroom.
Total carnage: 2 accidents, 1 towel.
I guess when I put it that way, she's showing improvement.

Potty Training Diary--Day 2
The morning started off well with Chloe having her first STB (Successful Trip to the Bathroom)! We celebrated by dancing to her favorite song: House of Pain's "Jump Around." ("And the Mother of the Year Award goes to . . .") Within a half hour after that she had two accidents. I think that the need to pee all the time was stressing her out, so I nixed the non-stop dilluted lemonade. She calmed down and was able to have another STB. When I yelled across the apartment and told Harrison she did it again, he said, "I. Don't. CARE!"
Total carnage: 2 STB's, 3 accidents, 4 towels, 4 pairs of underpants, 4 dresses, and 1 blanket.

Potty Training Diary--Day 1
I cleared my schedule for the week to start potty training Chloe. She was showing signs of readiness and I was tired of my couch not smelling like urine, so I figured we'd give it a go. I put her in underpants and had her chug sugar-free lemonade. An hour later I sat her on the potty and read her stories for about 10 minutes. When nothing happened, I told her we would try again later. Then she'd go pee somewhere and we'd start the whole dance over again.
We discovered that those giant ziploc bags will hold a couch cushion, so bonus! She did wake up dry from her nap, but other than that there were no victories today.
Total carnage: 5 accidents, 7 towels, 6 pairs of underpants, 2 dresses and one cushion.
I know the most important thing for me to do is stay positive. And I am positive she will never figure this out.

And they lived happily ever after . . .

Tomorrow we're celebrating our 6th Wedding Anniversary. Through my years of watching romantic movies I was under the impression, before I married, that marriage was the ultimate goal. Once you achieved it, you were home free. It quickly became clear to me that life would go on. Bills still need to be paid, exams still need to be taken, jobs still need to be found. There were some luxuries of engaged life that we could no longer enjoy. It took me a while to learn that just because we weren't always holding hands it didn't mean we weren't in love, anymore. Six years later, we may not sit as close as we used to, but I think we've filled the space nicely.
Below is a slideshow of our wedding day with pictures taken by my sister, Katy. (You're so jealous you didn't have a musical tribute written and performed for you by your family. So jealous.)

V-Day
Jeff had to leave town for Valentine's Day (which is lame because I kind of got married so I wouldn't have to spend another Valentine's Day alone, knowwhatimsayin'?) so the kids and I threw a pajama party for some friends.
It went a little something like this:

. . . until I put on Cinderella (being sure to fast-forward through the previously agreed upon "scary part" when the stepsisters tear Cinderella's dress).

Don't worry. Jeff covered his bases before he left.

Tag THIS!
My friend Cara tagged me on her blog. I hope this doesn't bore you.
10 years ago:
I was half-way through my first year at Peace College in Raleigh, NC. I was performing the role of Benedick in our all-female production of "Much Ado About Nothing." Here is a picture of me and my friend Jenny in the play.

Last year I ran into Jenny and she confessed to having a crush on me during this play. I've decided to be flattered.
Snacks I enjoy:
Chips and dip, popcorn, anything that could be considered party food, and Swiss chocolate.
Things I would do if I were suddenly made a billionaire:
Pay off our combined student loans and . . . go out for ice cream with what's left over.
3 of my bad habbits:
I'm TERRIBLE with paperwork. That's one of the only things I procrastinate. Maybe it's because I care so much about the environment that I hate paperwork. I'm an emotional eater and a bad housekeeper. Hmm. This was fun. Thanks.
5 places I've lived:
Oakley, ID, Pocatello, ID, Woods Cross, UT, Cary, NC and Chapel Hill, NC
5 Jobs I've had:
-My first job was at Rebecca's Gourmet Bakery and Fine Art Coffee Shop (or RGB and FACS) where I sold desserts and every afternoon performed that favorite kitchen comedy "Making Muffins wiff Mewissa."
-My next job was at Goodberry's Frozen Custard where I gained a lot of weight. That was my last food service gig.
-I worked as a professional house cleaner for a couple of years. No, the irony is not lost on me. This is the only job I was ever fired from.
-In college I shot a commercial for Rex Hospital. The storyline was that my mother had breast cancer and because she got such great care at Rex, she could come to my graduation. I had a few friends ask me if my mom was in remission, yet. It got awkward every time I had to explain that not only was that woman not my mother, but that she didn't even have cancer.
-I worked as a runner for "magician" David Copperfield for a day. That means I sent out his mail and did all the grocery shopping for his tour bus. Apparently the man lives entirely on alcohol and beef jerky.

Things people don't know about me:
I'm not a fan of this question. I'm guessing if you don't know it about me, it's because I don't want you to know it. So what is this? Some sneaky way of getting me to confess that I'm a huge Amanda Bynes fan or that I have to wear socks all the time or that I have terrifying hallucinations in the middle of the night? Well, it's not going to work!
Who I'm tagging:
Much as I hate to continue this virtual Amish friendship bread, I'm tagging Ashley Pace, Allison Riley, Chelsea Dyreng, Jesica Bush, and Kim Bloomfield.
(And you five are supposed to answer these questions and tag five people so the confessions just go on and on and on . . .)
