As I mentioned last year, Jeff's family likes to celebrate Pie Day the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. This involves his mom making tons of pie and everyone eating pie for every meal. We couldn't make it to North Carolina for Thanksgiving this year, and Jeff worked all day Wednesday and Thursday but I wasn't about to miss Pie Day.
I told the kids that we were only going to eat pie on Wednesday and awaited their enthusiastic cheers. Harrison told me that was ridiculous and impossible. We eventually agreed on a a compromise of pizza for one meal (since it technically falls in the pie category).
I spent the day making a pumpkin cheesecake (for the next day), pumpkin pie, buttermilk pie, and razzleberry pie (courtesy of my friend Marie). My house smelled incredible all day and Harrison even helped out a bit.
When it was finally time to eat pie, Harrison and Chloe were more interested in the ice cream on top. They each ate half a piece of pie and three helpings of ice cream.
And that's the story of how I ate three pies and a cheesecake by myself.

First Looks
I saw my baby yesterday. It was a wiggly little child. That part is always fun because it makes the whole baby in my belly thing more real. The not-so-fun part was when I passed out after they took blood from me. Apparently one should eat and drink before someone takes five vials of their blood.
I also met my new doctor. She looks like Michelle Pfeiffer, plus a pierced tongue and fishnet stockings. She introduced herself by saying, "My name is Rebecca, but you can call me Sam." Super. She'll be appearing on tonight's episode of "Five Under Five" on the Discovery Health Channel. Don't be jealous.
Here are some shots of the little tumbler:

And freaky alien front view:
I'm thinking of putting Freaky Alien Front View in the Look-a-like meter and seeing what happens.

Can't Argue With Science
My friend Liz posted one of these on her blog, so I'm copying her. But she was copying her cousin. I'm sure her cousin was copying someone, too. We're a bunch of copycats.

Probably Fruitcake
The other day we were talking about Christmas presents with the kids. I explained to them that we exchange gifts because the Wise Men brought gifts to the baby Jesus. Harrison asked, "What did the foolish men bring?"

Three Years and Three Days
To celebrate Chloe's 3rd birthday, we decided to spend three days in Pocatello this past weekend. You know what that means . . .

. . . eating at the Golden Corrall with my Grandma Shirley and Grandpa Curtis. The waitresses decided to wish Chloe happy birthday "the Golden Corrall Way." She stared at the brownie sundae they gave her for about five minutes until I asked her what was wrong. She said, "I was going to have a PANDA CAKE." I guess she was worried that I hadn't heard her daily requests for the past month.
Mom and I collaborated on Chloe's Dream Come True Panda Cake.

Here she is telling Grandma Maxwell about her panda party.

She added a new panda ("Bamboo Pup") and Care Bear ("Oopsie Bear") to her entourage.

AND she got to enjoy the Lee Family Birthday Song with Grandma and Grandpa Lee.

The Greatest Snow on Earth
(That's what my license plate says.)
Yesterday we had our first big snowfall. (You may recall that our last snowfall melted by Noon.) It's made everything absolutely beautiful! Snow and I haven't had a lot of face time over the past 17 years, so we made the most of yesterday. Jeff stayed home from work to watch the snow fall. That's how mesmerising it was for us. (Also, work shmerk.) We made a little snowman, had a snowball fight, and came inside to drink hot cocoa. The mountains are really incredible when they're covered in snow. This is the part we've been waiting for. I heart you, snow!
Here Chloe tries to catch snowflakes on her tongue.
She's my little snow princess./em>
These are the least blurry pictures I could get of Jeff and Harrison because I was dodging snowballs the whole time.

Notice the little pond in the background of this picture? That's the water fountain in our front yard. This morning Harrison decided to try and go ice skating on it. Needless to say, it wasn't frozen all the way through and George Bailey had to come and rescue him. (Not really. He stepped six inches into it and realized what a stupid thing he'd done.) Pretty scary stuff. And where was his mother the whole time? Geez!
P.S. Since so many of you asked, I'm due May 24th and feeling just great now that my first trimester is over. Thanks for your congratulations!

Trick or Treat
We had the pleasure of spending our Halloween evening at Jeff's Uncle Gary and Aunt Lisa's. Lisa made chili and scones and the men took the kids trick-or-treating. It was the most fun we've had on Halloween in a long time. Thanks for letting us join the fun, guys!
Earlier in the day, Jeff carved pumpkins with the kids.
Here's a shot of all the kids in their costume from top: Jeff's Aunt Penny holding Baby Bumblebee Berkley, Asian Princess Kiersten holding Chinese chef Carter, Ballerina Panda Chloe, and Mr. Incredibly Crabby (Harrison).
Despite a few run-ins with dogs (which the kids are terrified of) and some light rain, trick-or-treating was the greatest thing to happen to Harrison and Chloe, ever!

Now I just have to figure out how to regulate all that candy. Any suggestions?
